Ways to save money on weddings - fake flowers

Are these Wedding Flowers Fake?

Head on over to 3 Boys and a Dog to see my guest post on Ways to Save Money on Weddings – Fake Flowers. Kelli has a great site on how to save money online and I’m glad she accepted my wedding post.

Flowers can be a touchy subject with brides. Like everything else, if having real flowers is important to you then go ahead and spend money on them! Spend money on the things that are important to you. If they are not on the top of your list then you can save a lot of money by using silk flowers.

Silk flowers allow you to choose any flower (and color) you want. The season and location will not matter! If you do chose an out of season flower then you will not have to worry about the condition it will be in when it is shipped. You can pre-purchase them and know exactly what it will look like. They also look great in photographs. The colors are bright and there is not any wilting (unless you actually purchase silk wedding flowers with a wilted look).

You can get adventurous and mix silk wedding flowers with real ones, but be careful if you do this. You do not want to make it obvious which ones are silk and which are real wedding flowers. Going one way or another is a safer bet, but a good florist can make a mixture of silk wedding flowers and real flowers look great. I have seen successful mixes where the silk flowers are weaved into greenery (like on a trellis). However, mixing silk and real wedding flowers within a single bouquet is difficult to do.
