As you go to plan your wedding day, one of the biggest choices you have to make is that of the venue. Will you get married in a church? Or maybe an event hall? For those brides though who want to try something different (and maybe keep costs drastically down) you can always get married in your backyard.
And there is more good news – an outdoor wedding can be every bit as elegant as a church wedding if you do it right. It all depends on how you set it up and theme it. Plus, if you do some nice landscaping, it can be a great way to revamp your backyard that will last for years.
So follow these easy tips and soon you will be planning your own backyard wedding.
First off, the biggest issue that might arise is there is simply no room for all your guests. If you are inviting 200 people but only have a small yard, it’s going to be impossible to fit them all in. So instead of giving up hope of an outdoor wedding why not host it in a private park or a family friend’s house that has a nice yard? It won’t be your yard but it can still be your dream wedding.
Next up we have the issue of having a maintained yard. We all have that shabby tree or dead spot in our yards that we keep meaning to fix up. Well, this is the time to do it. You don’t have to have a professional landscaper come in – but it would be nice – but it is smart to tidy up the problem areas. Removing things like bee’s nests or unkempt shrubs that might snag a dress (or wedding gown) is a good idea too.
Another thing to consider is how you will attach and place all the decorations. You will need to rent some tents for all seating and serving areas anyway, so these are some good places to start planning the layout off of. Naturally large tress can provide a nice focal point to gather around also. Plus they are sturdy and you can hang lights from them. Get creative with it and you’ll see so many ways you can decorate to make the day truly unique.
The last point – and this is one that often gets overlooked – is the logistics of having so many people over. Where will they park? Many people get their neighbors involved and they let them use their driveways. Will there be cabs available if someone drinks too much? And what about dancing – you will need to have a flat area if you will be having a dance in your yard.
For the most part through having a backyard wedding is a fantastic way to make your wedding day truly something special for both you and all your guests.
