We may not all be true Princess brides like Kate Middleton, but we can dress like one! Ask any bride what is on the top of their wedding list and most will mention the bridal gown. The wedding dress embodies everything you feel that day. Finding your perfect wedding dress is a wonderful experience and many brides say they “just knew” when they found their perfect wedding dress.
Once you find your perfect dress it is time to find the perfect Mother of the Bride Dress. Some brides like their mother to wear the same color as their bridesmaids and others like the colors to be contrasting, but the important thing is to keep your mom’s feelings in mind! I have known many a bride who has chosen the dress for her mom only to have her mom tell her she doesn’t like it.
There are also many brides who let their mother’s choose the dress themselves (I am a firm believer that this is the best way to go). You will have more control (if you want it) with the bridesmaid dresses.
There are many trends with bridesmaid dresses right now. My favorite trend is choosing your color and letting your bridesmaids choose the style that fits them best. This works in all cases, but is especially useful if you have bridesmaids that have strikingly different body types.
The popular color families right now are blues, pinks, purples, and greens. Of course, you do not have to be trendy so if those colors do not appeal to you then choose an entirely different one!
There is also a wonderful trend where the bridesmaid dresses are created so they can actually be worn again. Gone are the days where you found the ugliest dress you could and ask your closest friends to shell out a few hundred dollars to wear it. Now you can get a stylish dress they can wear again at a price they can afford.
Thank goodness it is 2011!
