10 Easy Ways to Save Money on your Wedding

in Planning, Wedding Budget

Saving money on your wedding can seem to be a daunting task, but here are a few things every bride and groom can do to cut back on costs.

Enter blog giveaways.  There are lots of wedding blogs out there and many of them host giveaways.  This blog has given away numerous prizes, including a custom bridal jewelry set. You have a much higher chance of winning a blog contest than an offline contest because the number of entries tends to be smaller.

Purchase the flower girl dresses at AmazonFlower girl dresses are expensive at a bridal salon.  Fortunately, you can find deep discount sales on them online.  Amazon is one of the places that always has sales on flower girl/pageant/communion dresses.  You can generally find a salon style dress for around $30.

Use Groupon.  Keep an eye on groupon sales if your city participates.  In the past month they have posted a deal on wine ($5/bottle shipped for nice wine) and limo service.  Spa and massage deals are posted quite a bit, and they would make great gifts for the mothers and fathers.

Create a wedding budget.  This may seem like an odd tip, but it is a good one.  The lack of a concrete budget will almost always lead to you spending more money than you realize or want to.  Figure out where your priorities are so you don’t have to cut back on something that is important to you.

Buy your designer wedding dress online.  You can get the exact same dress online and save lots of money.  If you purchase it through RK Bridal then you still have the peace of mind that it is coming from a “real” bridal salon (RK Bridal is a brick and mortor store in New York that also fulfills online orders for a discount).  Check out this bridal gown savings post to see how to do it.

Purchase your invitations online.  There are always great invitation deals (this post showed you how to get them for $0.09 each!).  Wait for a deal and then purchase what you need.

Give your bridesmaids gifts they need for the wedding.  The best thing to give them is jewelry or a clutch.  This may not save you much, but it will save them (and they will appreciate it).

Get a good planner.  This is like the budget tip.  A good planner stops you from purchasing items twice (believe me, it will happen) and it keeps your quotes together so you do not miss or forget about a lower cost option.

Great post, and great way to work in your links! I am loving this 31dbbb challenge with the SITS gals. I am learning so much! The idea of giving the bridesmaids a gift they need for the wedding is fabulous, I wish ALL brides followed that tip.

I have featured your blog in my Fantastic Finds post today. I look forward to reading lots more =)
